Nurse Triage Services in All 50 States and DC
A triage nurse has to be licensed where the patient is located. PCTS RNs are licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, so one triage service covers your patients wherever they call from. Here is how each state is covered.
Compact status last verified October 14, 2026. See the licensure guide for how the Nurse Licensure Compact works.
Covered by a compact license
These states have implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact. A nurse with a multistate license can triage patients located in any of them.
Covered by a state license
These jurisdictions are outside the compact, or have not yet implemented it. The nurse needs that state's own license. PCTS RNs hold one in every one of them.
States that need their own license
These are the states where triage coverage most often breaks down: a vendor whose nurses hold only compact licenses cannot legally triage your patients here.
