Nurse Triage Services in the District of Columbia

What District of Columbia practices need to know

The District of Columbia is not in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so triage for patients located in DC requires a DC RN license.

Few practices anywhere cross jurisdictions as often as those in the DC area. A practice in the District may have most of its patients living in Maryland or Virginia, both compact states, while DC residents need a DC-licensed nurse. The reverse is true for suburban practices with DC patients.

PCTS RNs hold DC licenses alongside compact licenses, so a practice anywhere in the DC metro area is covered for patients in all three jurisdictions.
